How to Apply to Fulbright Seminars for School Administrators


Eligible applicants include U.S. citizens who reside in the United States, a U.S. territory, or who work on a campus within the Department of Defense Education Activity.

Eligible applicants are school and/or district administrators with five or more years of experience working in a K–12 setting. Eligible titles include, but are not limited to: principal, assistant principal, superintendent, assistant superintendent, dean, associate/assistant dean, head of school, director. Applicants must be employed full-time as a K–12 school and/or district administrator at a public, charter, private (secular and religious) school or district in the U.S., a U.S. territory, or within the Department of Defense Education Activity.*

Applicants must have a master’s degree and have the ability to travel for the entirety of the program.

*Full-time employment as an administrator is defined as 90% or more of contracted time spent in an administrative function such as providing instructional leadership and developing, implementing, and evaluating district and school systems and policies.

It includes sections to enter personal and professional demographics, education and certification information, language proficiency, and an opportunity to answer, in short essays, questions about the applicant’s goals for participating in Fulbright Seminars for School Administrators, the need for this professional development experience for impact in your school and/or district, and how you will serve as an effective ambassador of the U.S. and its education system.

Applicants are asked to demonstrate how their skills and experience will make them a good candidate for participation.

Applicants should submit a professional reference from their direct supervisor and/or a member of the school board in support of their application. If selected, applicants will need to submit a leave authorization form, confirming approval from the home school for travel during the academic calendar year, if applicable. This form will be provided to selected participants.
